Chemical Calibration

pH generation 4 / 7 / 10 against certified buffer solutions

[§7.0 — OVERVIEW]

Chemical metrology at FCI

Chemical and analytical instrument calibration ensures that the meters governing environmental compliance, water quality, and process chemistry report accurate values. FCI's accredited chemical scope covers pH generation by direct method using certified buffer solutions.

pH is generated at 4 pH (0.035), 7 pH (0.035), and 10 pH (0.024) using NIST-traceable buffer solutions. Each certificate documents the reference materials used, their certified values, and the expanded uncertainty at a 95% confidence level — the defensible record that regulatory reporting requires.

These services support environmental monitoring programs and pharmaceutical and water-quality QC labs. FCI provides in-lab calibration and can advise on calibration frequency appropriate to your compliance obligations.

As with every FCI discipline, chemical certificates carry as-found and as-left data and full NIST traceability, built to satisfy auditors across regulated industries.

pH calibrations are traceable to NIST through certified buffer solutions. Uncertainties are reported at 95% confidence (k=2) on each ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certificate.

CAUTIONUncertainties shown are best-case values under controlled reference conditions. Field and on-site uncertainties may increase per the environment; each certificate states the as-measured CMC.

Chemical calibration questions

What chemical instruments do you calibrate?

pH meters and probes, process pH and ORP instruments, and water-quality analyzers, with buffer-solution verification.

What is your accredited pH capability?

pH is generated at 4, 7 and 10 pH using NIST-traceable certified buffer solutions, with uncertainty of 0.035 pH at 4 and 7 and 0.024 pH at 10.

What does a pH certificate include?

The reference buffers used, their certified values and the expanded uncertainty at 95% confidence (k=2), along with as-found and as-left readings.

Who uses pH calibration?

Environmental compliance, pharmaceutical and water-quality QC, process chemistry and laboratory pH-meter programs. Returning customers get a written quote within one business day. New customers and new equipment go through ISO/IEC 17025 contract review in three to five business days.
