[§5.0 — OVERVIEW]

DC / Low Frequency (Electrical) metrology at FCI

DC and low-frequency electrical calibration keeps the meters, sources, analyzers, and oscilloscopes in your test benches reading true. FCI calibrates against multifunction reference standards including the Fluke 5720A and 5520A, HP 3458A, Fluke 8508A, Vitrek 4620B, HP 4284A, and Keithley 487, all traceable to NIST.

DC voltage is generated to 1000 V (Fluke 5720A) and measured to 1000 V (HP 3458A); DC current is generated from 10 µA to 1000 A and measured from nanoamps to 1000 A. DC resistance spans 0 Ω to 1 TΩ across the Fluke 5720A/5520A and Keithley 487, and is measured to 20 GΩ on the Fluke 8508A. DC power is generated 10 mW to 1 kW (Fluke 5520A).

AC voltage is generated from 0.22 mV to 1100 V (10 Hz–1 MHz) and measured to 20 kV (Vitrek 4620B), with amplitude flatness referenced by thermal transfer. AC current spans 100 µA to 1000 A; capacitance spans 1 pF to 110 mF and inductance 10 µH to 10 H using the HP 4284A. Oscilloscope work covers DC signal, square wave, edge rise/fall (150 ps / 500 ps), leveled sine to 3.2 GHz (Fluke 9500B w/9530), and timing markers.

As-found and as-left data is captured at every test point, with expedited turnaround for critical bench instruments and on-site calibration for fixed test systems.

DC and low-frequency electrical measurements are traceable to NIST through the Fluke 5720A/5520A multifunction calibrators, HP 3458A, Fluke 8508A, and Vitrek 4620B reference standards. Uncertainties are reported at 95% confidence (k=2) on each ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certificate.

CAUTIONUncertainties shown are best-case values under controlled reference conditions. Field and on-site uncertainties may increase per the environment; each certificate states the as-measured CMC.

DC / Low Frequency (Electrical) calibration questions

What electrical test equipment do you calibrate?

Digital multimeters and calibrators, oscilloscopes, power supplies, sources and shunts, LCR meters, and hipot and high-voltage analyzers.

What are your electrical ranges?

DC voltage to 1000 V, DC current from 10 µA to 1000 A, resistance from 0 Ω to 1 TΩ generated, AC voltage to 1100 V from 10 Hz to 1 MHz, capacitance from 1 pF to 110 mF, and inductance from 10 µH to 10 H.

Can you calibrate oscilloscopes?

Yes. A Fluke 9500B with a 9530 head covers leveled sine from 0.1 Hz to 3.2 GHz and edge rise time at 150 ps and 500 ps, along with DC, square wave and timing checks.
